The Sumipaw approach
We begin with the details that make your pet unmistakable—the eyes, markings, posture, and expression—then translate them through controlled ink edges, soft wash, and warm paper.

Paper and ink
Sumipaw works with traditional ink papers selected by the artist for each portrait. These papers are made from plant fibers and carry the soft absorbency, visible grain, and quiet texture that give ink-wash brushwork its depth.
Rush commission
Two Rush commissions are available each week. Photo review is free; an opening is locked only after the reference is approved and payment is received.

How it works
Join the waitlist for a Standard commission, or request a weekly Rush commission.
Join the waitlist for a Standard commission, or check the current Rush availability.
For a Rush commission, we check likeness detail and confirm whether the timing can be accepted.
After the reference is approved, you receive the PayPal invoice.
Your physical original is painted, lightly finished, and prepared for mailing.
A useful reference
One photo is enough. Add a second only when it helps explain color or expression. Avoid heavy blur and cropped ears.
Memorial keepsakes
Memorial orders can use softer contrast, lighter color, and optional dedication wording.

Paper is selected by the artist to match the portrait's ink texture, fur detail, and wash control.
U.S. shipping is included for Classic portraits. Large wall and non-U.S. shipping are quoted separately after photo review.
Customer-uploaded photos stay private. Finished customer artwork is shown publicly only with separate approval.

Each order includes the physical, lightly finished original artwork listed in the invoice. A Rush Classic adds $80 per physical portrait and is dispatched within 14 days after payment; transit time is additional. Two separate portraits use two Rush openings. Large Rush timing requires manual confirmation.
Privacy
Sumipaw collects the information needed to review, paint, invoice, and mail a physical portrait, plus limited visit-level data that helps us understand the ordering path.
The waitlist collects only an email address. Rush commission requests collect pet photos, contact details, portrait choices, special requests, and shipping information through Netlify Forms for order handling.
Waitlist emails are used to announce when Standard commissions reopen. Photos are used to assess and paint accepted portraits. Contact and address details from Rush commission requests are used for order communication, invoicing, and mailing the finished original.
The page records a short-lived random visit ID and whether a visitor viewed pricing, began a photo upload, opened delivery details, saw a form error, or submitted a review. The event record itself does not include pet photos, names, email addresses, shipping addresses, or file names. If a photo review is submitted, that same ID is included with the request so we can understand which steps led to it. It is not used for advertising.
Your original photo is private. Finished artwork is shown publicly only after separate written approval, without your full name, address, or private order details.
Waitlist emails are retained until commissions reopen or you ask to be removed. Original reference photos are scheduled for deletion from active order storage within 90 days after an order is completed or cancelled. Basic transaction records may be retained where needed for accounting and order support.
To request access or deletion before the usual retention period, email sumipaw@outlook.com.
